Squishy and the Fishes

Squishy and the Fishes was developed for the August 26/27, 2023, Chaos Jam game jam. The theme was mutation. What better way to say mutation than a slime spewing frog, and mutated angler fishes?

A ***MOUSE*** is required to play.

CONTROLS: 

• Movement - WASD
• Full Screen / Windowed Mode toggle - F
• Pause - P
• Fire - LEFT MOUSE BUTTON

This game is also now playable on gx.games and if you click the VS icon in the lower left of the game you can join the High Score Challenge ladder. If you happen to score higher than the highest score, your score will be submitted as the top score. (You may have to refresh to see it, and it, unofrtunately requires a gx.games account).

I wish I could have released an HTML version here, but sadly I didn't buy the HTML export when I bought GameMaker Studio 2. A MacOS version is in the works, but delayed due to some stupid Apple account issues. Apple, stop forcing people to remember every password on every damn device you've ever owned, 2FA should be enough.

A few features since the initial game jam release:

• Fishes no longer spawn right on top of you. They can spawn closely, but not right on top.
• Both the fishes and Squishy animate slightly.
• Fishes now appear to move towards you (swarm) more naturally, movement looked a bit jank in the original version.
• The pink slime bullets now last a little bit longer.

The Windows and Linux version are in sync now.
