A long time ago I had UFOs exploding into a zillion little bits, it wasn't quite what I wanted so I removed the exploding bits. For the past several versions of Fasteroids there's been no UFO destruction effect, it simply disappeared. I've added an effect again, it's not quite what I want, but for now it's a placeholder for a better effect, and it looks like the ship is being destroyed.
